Fraser, Lorge Forrest – 83, Deep Brook, N.S., passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2007 with his family present. Born in Bear River East, he was the son of the late Forrest and Grace (Long) Fraser. Lorge was a WWII veteran, serving overseas with the Sherbrooke Fusiliers. Following his war service, he spent the next four years sailing on the Gypsum King. He then worked at CFB Cornwallis in the CE section until retirement. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Gladys Harvey, Deep Brook; daughter Dolores, Deep Brook; son Randy, Dartmouth; grandchildren Sarah(Rob), Kyle, Bria(Brodi), Ali and great-grandson Andersen, several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter Diane, brother Keith, sister Phyllis. At his request, there will be no service. Memorial donations may be made to World Vision. Cremation has taken place. OLIVER, Mabel Irene - 82, Windsor, Hants Co., passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 16, 2007, in Windsor Elms Senior Citizens Home. Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Elizabeth (Ashe) Jackson. Mabel was a member of Windsor United Baptist Church and she will be remembered as a faithful volunteer at Lucasville United Baptist Church, Dykeland Lodge and Matthew 25. Mabel was a devoted mother and will be sadly missed by her many family members and friends. She is survived by sons, Perry, Sackville; Stephen (Angela), Lucasville; Parker (Jennifer), Dartmouth; daughters, Rhoda (Mark) Denault, Sackville; Madelyn States, Sackville; brothers, John "Buster" Paris, Windsor; Percy Jr. (Florence) Jackson, Montreal; Bill (Louise) Jackson, Kamloops; sisters, Vivian (Norman) Hamilton, Montreal; Jane Williams, Edmonton; Evelyn (William) Cocette, Elmsdale, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mabel was predeceased by two brothers in infancy and one sister in infancy. STABLER, Stanley Dowsley - Of Wolfville, formerly of Montreal, Que., and Regina, Sask., passed away on May 16, 2007, in Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, following a lengthy illness. He was born February 21, 1928, in Kingston, Ont. He was the only son of William Stanley and Ethel (Dowsley) Stabler. After graduating with a B.Sc. from Queens University in 1951, Stanley spent approximately 30 years as an Engineer and a Manager for the Oil Companies in Montreal. He then traveled the world for 15 years as a business consultant. Stanley enjoyed all of his career endeavours and seized every opportunity to make the most of each challenge and adventure his work presented. He participated in and enjoyed sporting activities (baseball, basketball, football, golf). Following in his father's footsteps, Stanley was a Mason. As a member of a Montreal businessmen's club called The Fossils, he enthusiastically performed in the annual musical comedy productions that raised funds to send disadvantaged children to summer camp. At 60, he developed his childhood interest in magic and learned to be a professional level magician. Stanley is survived by his wife, Nancy Hicks, Wolfville; daughters, Lynda (Marshall) Letts, Sarnia, Ont.; Donna (Randy) Giffin, Waverley; Cheryl (Spiro) Stergiotis, Montreal; grandchildren, Karen and Julia Letts, James and Lee Giffin, Anthony and Michael Stergiotis; former wife, Evelyn (Donaldson) Stabler. A service celebrating the life of Stanley Stabler was held Thursday, May 24, at 2 p.m. in Manning Memorial Chapel, Acadia University, Rev. Ada M. White — 88. It is with great sadness that we announce that Ada Mae White, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in the company of her many children in QEII Health Science Center, Halifax, on Thursday, May 17, 2007. Born Oct. 14, 1918 in Delaps Cove, NS, Ada was the daughter of the late John and Georgina (Lawrence) Brothers. She was a former worker at Fahie’s Nursing Home in Liverpool. Ada was the heart and soul of her family and her home on Old Port Mouton Road was a welcome spot for both family and friends. It was there that she welcomed and enjoyed the company of all, but especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They could always expect something fresh from the oven to eat and a game of cards. If that game was poker, she was even happier. Ada loved to play Bingo and enjoyed the company of her friends there. She is sadly missed by daughters: Alice (Stan) Carvey, Vivian (Percy) Carvey, both of Lower Sackville, and Valerie Warrington of Liverpool. She was the beloved mother of sons: Eugene (Karen) Warrington of Petawawa, Ont., Thomas (Marg) Warrington, Carter Warrington, Darrel (Nancy) Warrington, all of Halifax, Derrick (Carolyn) Warrington of Liverpool, and Carl Warrington; daughter-in-law, Judith Warrington; step-children, Ron (Rhoda) White, Reginald White, Gertrude (George) Hill, and Florence (Percy) Jackson; 31 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence White; sons, Frederick and Brian Warrington; brothers, John, William, Stewart, James and Baden; sisters: Alice, Evelyn, Grace, Rose, Mary and Dorothy. The family wishes to thank all of her caregivers and staff at QEII and the medical team at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. CLARKE, William George "Bill" - 80, Falmouth, formerly of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Friday, May 18, 2007, in Windsor Elms Senior Citizens Home. Born in Dartmouth, he was a son of the late William and Agnes (Simpson) Clarke. Bill was an avid hockey and baseball player and he also loved golf and was a member of Brightwood Golf & Country Club, Dartmouth. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Bill served 24 years with the Dartmouth Volunteer Fire Department and was also Owner/Operator of the Bonnie Piper Beverage Room and the Lamplighter Beverage Room. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, the former Dora Jennings; sons, Randall (Karen), Mount Uniacke; Timothy (Michelle), Falmouth; grandchildren, Katherine, Mackenna and Carter; sisters, Joan (Jim), Dartmouth; Kathleen (Ted), Dartmouth; brothers, Charles, Meaghers Grant; Ronald (Patsy), Meaghers Grant, and Bryan (Joyce), Dartmouth. NORRIS, Ursula Ann "Dizzy" - 50, Lockhartville. Passed away Friday May 18, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with cancer, her loving family gathered by her side. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of Gwendolyn Barker (Clarke-Little) and the late Gordon Clarke. She is survived by her loving husband, Howard Edward Norris “Ed”; stepmother, Daisy Clark, Windsor; brothers, Rev. Clarence Clarke, River Hubert; Robert (Cindy) Barker, Hants border; Michael (Tracey) Barker, Hantsport; David (Suzanne) Clarke, Montreal; Terry (Della) Little, Windsor; sisters, Wendy Blue, Hantsport; Susan Gates, Dartmouth; Tina (Jerome) Marr, Lockhartville; Brenda Clarke, Lockhartville, Starlene States Montreal; Dawn-Lynn Clarke, Windsor; as well as several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Wayne Homer Potter - 66, Centreville, passed away Friday May 18, 2007 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Annapolis Royal, Wayne was a son of the late Homer and Lulu (Ritchie) Potter. Wayne owned and operated Potter's Auto body in Centreville for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, and had a love for hunting and fishing. His family was his life and he loved each and everyone of them, especially his devoted and loving wife, Roberta (Woodland); children, Becky (Val), P.E.I., Sheryl, Kentville, Rodney (Faye), South Alton, Sandra (Tom), Kempt Shore and Andrew (Michelle), Coldbrook; his grandchildren, Seth (Ginger), Amber, Jeremiah (Vanessa), Jacob, Cassie, Carrie, Deirdre, Josh, Drew and Emily; one great grandson, Dominique. Also surviving are a sister, Inez, New Hampshire; many nieces and nephews. Wayne is predeceased by sisters, Geraldine and Velma. There will be no visitation at the family's request. A celebration of Wayne's life was held 2 p.m. Friday May 25 in the Centreville Baptist Church, Rev. Marc Potvin officiated, a reception followed the service in the church hall. Corey Keith Chapman – 19, of Canning, Kings County, passed away Friday, May 18, 2007 as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Steam Mill, Kings County. Born in Brampton, Ontario, he was a son of Randy Chapman, Scarborough, Ontario and Charlene (Somers) and her husband, Austin Brown, Canning. He was a graduate of Northeast Kings Education Centre, Canning (class of 2005) and a proud member of the NKEC Titans hockey team. He was an avid sports enthusiast, especially soccer and hockey. Corey enjoyed working outdoors with his hands, spending time with “the boys” and loved animals, especially his dog, Jake. Corey enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Jenna Chapman, Sheffield Mills; two brothers, Warren Chapman, Barrie, Ontario and Jeremy Brown, at home; grandparents, Keith Somers, Alliston, Ontario; Claude and Maisie Chapman, Barrie; Sheldon and Flora Brown, Canning; several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Shirley Somers. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father Larry Pitcher officiated. Christabell Lina Saltzman -83, Berwick, Kings Co. passed away Friday May 18, 2007, in the Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Viewmount, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Laura (Coolen) Hirtle. Christabell had been employed as an Executive House Keeper at the former Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick, for 30 years. She was a member of the Berwick United Church and the Central Kings Crusaders. Surviving are her son, Wylie (Dorothy) Saltzman, Berwick; daughters, Elinor (Russell) Murphy, West Clifford, Lunenburg Co.; Joyce (Wayne) Murphy, Aylesford Mountain, Kings Co.; Lorna (Robert) Pelton, Somerville, Mass.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, General H. Saltzman; grandson, Stephen Murphy; great-grandson, Jeremiah Murphy; step great-grandson, Christopher Zwicker; brother, Everett Hirtle; sister, Olive Irwin. There was visitation for Christabell, 7-9 p.m. Monday May 21, in the H.C. Raymond Edward Turbitt - 94, of Port Williams formerly of Aldersville, passed away Saturday May 19, 2007 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Aldersville, he was a son of the late William and Amena (Hennigar) Turbitt. Raymond was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Before retiring from Legg’s Transport in 1980, Raymond had been employed by P. Williams Agencies and Gates & Watson. Raymond was a member of the St. James Anglican Church in Aldersville and the Golden Age Club in New Ross. Raymond will be fondly remembered for enjoying a game of cards, wrestling and hockey. The Maple Leafs were his team. Raymond will be sadly missed by many family and friends. Raymond is survived by his loving wife of almost 68 years, Gladys; sons, Edward (Shelley), Kentville, Ronald (Verna), New Ross; daughter, Joan (David) Woodworth, Port Williams; son-in-law, Ken Bramham, B.C.;12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great- great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by daughters, June Turbitt and Diane Bramham; brothers, Willie, Harry, Harold, Fred and Lloyd and sisters, Leah and Gertrude. Cremation has taken place.
