Robert Roy Martin – 36, of Kentville, Kings County, Nova Scotia and Sudbury, Ontario, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2007 in Kentville. Born in Sudbury, he was a son of Freda (MacDonald) (Martin) Smith, Kentville and the late Cleason Martin, Sudbury. He had been employed for eight years with Pine Hill Lumber in Lively, Ontario. He was later employed as a cook in Ottawa with both Patty Bolands and Burdons on Clarence Street and the Quality Inn in Sudbury. He was a happy and outgoing individual who enjoyed playing pool. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Alan (Janet) Martin, Sudbury and Gerry (Laurie) Martin, Ottawa; two nephews, Wynn and Korby; a niece, Amanda; his step-father, Merle Smith, Kentville and his family. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation by family request. A memorial gathering was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to the Lung Association. WATT, Pauline Isabel - 82, of Wilmot, NS passed away Monday, May 14, 2007 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Bloomington, NS she was a daughter of the late Frank and Minnie (Uhlman) Conant. Pauline loved scrap booking and her family dearly. She is survived by sisters, Irene Conant, Olga (Chester) Balcom, both of Nictaux and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Russell, Harold and Donald. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 16 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. Pastor Danny Smith officiated. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. ALCOCK, Terry Leslie - 59, Wellington, Yarmouth Co., passed away May 15, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Westmount, Montreal, he was a son of the late James and Violet (Gardnier) Alcock Norton. Terry was a member of the Yarmouth Lions Club, Yarmouth Fire Department, and a model train club. He was a truck driver. FILLMORE, Rebecca Watson (Dingee) - 89, Wolfville, passed away peacefully in the Wolfville Nursing Home, Wolfville, NS, on Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Born in Lakeside, New Brunswick on July 26, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Jessie (Weyman) Dingee and Frederick Seely Dingee. She graduated from Acadia University in 1939 with a B.A. in Psychology and followed it with a M.A. in the same subject from the University of Toronto in 1941, the year she married Richard Harold Fillmore. Their working lives were spent in the United States, where Mrs. Fillmore held various positions teaching and practicing psychology. Their last twenty years in the United States were spent in Durham, North Carolina, where both were active members of the Society of Friends (Quakers). In 1976, The Fillmores returned to the Annapolis Valley where they first met and married, and joined the Wolfville Friends Meeting. Although her husband died in 1978, Mrs. Fillmore has lived here ever since. A lifelong book lover who could recite poetry by the hour, she was greatly assisted by library volunteers over the years. Mrs. Fillmore was cared for by the loving staff of the Wolfville Nursing Home and the Wolfville Elms; Dr. Heather Wellwood, Ladny Richmond, and other Quaker friends, Dr. Joanna Rankin, and Mrs. Velma Barkhouse. Besides her parents, Rebecca was predeceased by her husband Richard Harold Fillmore. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Dingee Fillmore of Burlington, Vermont and many faithful friends.There was a Quaker Meeting for Worship for the purpose of honoring Mrs. Fillmore's memory at Horton Community Hall, Horton, NS on Thursday, May 18, 2007 at 1:00 pm. DEMPSEY, Kathleen Bernice “Kaye” - 85, Upper Falmouth, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, in Windsor Elms Senior Citizens Residence. Born on June 15, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Katie (Price) and Cecil Morton Boyd. She was a former employee of Avon Valley Greenhouses and N.S. Textiles, Windsor. Kaye will remembered for her love of family and her enthusiasm for gardening and handcrafts. In later years she was an avid bowler. Rogers, Evelyn [Bobbie] Elizabeth -84 of Canning passed away Tuesday May 15, 2007 at home. Born at the Look Off, she was a daughter of the late James and Clara [Taylor] Blenkhorn. Bobbie was a caring and devoted mother. She was very well known for her knitting, sewing and her baking. She was a member of the Saint Michael and all Angels Anglican Church in Canning as well as the Canning fire department ladies auxiliary. She answered the fire department’s emergency calls before 911 came into effect. Her children will always remember that “mom would always tell you where you stood.” Bobbie will be sadly missed by her many family and friends. DeVILLER, Grace (Nee Lewis) – 74, died May 16, 2007 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 6, 1932 in Marshalltown, Digby Co., Grace lived in Melbourne with her loving companion, Daniel Doucette. She was a devoted mother to her sons Douglas, Vancouver, BC; Ronald, Sydney, John, Avery, Rick, all of Yarmouth Co.; daughters, Judy Sears, Yarmouth; Susan Mahaney (Donnie), Barrington; Dayle Gavel, Yarmouth; Margaret Hanrahan (James), Quinan. Grace was a loving grandmother to 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard; sons, Myles and Scott; grandson, Anthony. Robert Eugene “Bob” Riggs – 57, of Blomidon, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at home. Born in Ontario, he was the son of the late Jack and Jean (Firth) Riggs. He had been employed with Canada Post for over 27 years delivering mail to rural Kings County. He was an avid sports enthusiast, especially hockey and enjoyed cheering for the Chicago Blackhawks. He was also an avid collector of sports cards and memorabilia. He is survived by his wife, the former Carol Legge; a daughter, Cherie (Mark) Van Oostrum, Bradford, Ontario; a son, Robert “Robb” (Kendra), Blomidon; two grandchildren, Genelle and Sawyer; a half sister, Cory Riggs, British Columbia and a half brother, Jack Riggs, Singapore. He was predeceased by a grandson, Hayden. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. POOLE, Melbourne Richard “Meb” - of Hampton, NS, passed away suddenly May 17, 2007 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 63. He was a son of the late Elvin and Dorothy (Neily) Poole. Meb was self employed in farming and the construction industry for most of his life. A true entrepreneur, he was always interested in new business ventures. He was an affiliated member of Bridgetown Branch #33, Royal Canadian Legion and a life member of the North American Hunting Club. Meb loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting and was an avid supporter of Ducks Unlimited. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Valerie Foster; sons, Bradford, Hampton, Mark (Deborah), Litchfield, NS and the light of his life, grandson Zachary; sister, Jean Hall, Shediac, NB; brother, Harry (June), Dartmouth; aunts, Frances Hudgins, Kingston, NS; Myrna Young, Bridgetown and several nieces and nephews.
