April 22, 2007 to April 28, 2007 continued Victor Allison Anthony — 58, Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2007 at Queens General Hospital. Born in Liverpool, Queens County, Victor was an employee at Bowater Mersey Paper Company Ltd. for over 25 years, where his sense of humor and respect for others was noted by all. He enjoyed spending time with family, working (and riding) on motorcycles, canoeing, volunteering as a Beaver and Cub leader, and curling with the Liverpool Curling Club. Victor could also be found working in his yard, with a smile on his face, whistling, and cracking jokes to anyone who stopped by. Victor’s kindness, generosity and selflessness shone through in everything he did, and he will be greatly missed by many. Surviving are his father, Allison Anthony; step-mother, Pearl Anthony; mother, Leona Bower; half-brothers: Tony Anthony, Sterling Bower, William Bower and Scott Bower; half-sisters, Joanne Young and Julie Bower; wife, Sherilan Anthony; daughters: Natasha Titus, Angela Anthony and Crystal Anthony; son, Drew Anthony; grandsons, Noah Titus and Caleb Titus. A Celebration of Victor’s Life was held Saturday, May 5, at Chandler’s Funeral Home, Liverpool. In lieu of flowers or charities, Victor requested that we all “donate some time and energy to help someone else whenever the opportunity arises”. April 22, 2007 to April 28, 2007 continued Mabel Dorothy (nee McClearn) Bollivar – passed away peacefully on April 27, 2007 at the age of 98. Predeceased by her loving husband, Malcolm in 2006. Survived by her daughter Julia Ann (Bill) Woodgate; sons Malcolm Jr., Melvyn (Carol), her eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mabel grew up in Little Harbour, Shelburne County N.S. She graduated from Normal College in Truro in 1926. She was a teacher for ten years before she met and married Malcolm. Mabel was a member of Pilgrim United Church, Brooklyn, N.S., Dunbar Heights United Church, Vancouver, B.C. where she was active in the Woman’s Auxillary and Sunday Schools. In her later years, she was a member of Crescent United Church in South Surrey, B.C. where she joined their Woman’s Auxillary. She enjoyed traveling in their motor home touring B.C., Canada, and the U.S. She also toured Australia, Europe, New Zealand and Mexico. Mabel will be sadly missed by her family and friends. We are deeply grateful to the staff of Morgan Place and Weatherby, who have been kind and caring to our mother during her stays there. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday May 16, at 2:00PM at Valley View Funeral Home Arbor Chapel, 14660 72nd Ave., Surrey, B.C. April 22, 2007 to April 28, 2007 continued MUISE, Norma Jean – 40, Tusket, Yarmouth County, passed away on Friday, April 27, soon after being diagnosed with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and close friends, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born December 1, 1966 in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of Jennie Muise (Nate Crosby), John Deveau (Gertrude). She worked with Coastal Financial Credit Union, having worked at both the Tusket branch, and most recently as Branch Supervisor of the Pubnico branch. Norma loved children. She volunteered with the Argyle Soccer Association, the Sparks and Relay for Life, as well as with the Credit Union’s Community Committee, and she was a member of Saint Anne’s parish. Besides her parents, she will be greatly missed by her loving husband of nearly 17 years, her high school sweetheart, Jeff Muise, as well as her two loving children, Alyssa (14) and Andrew (13), both at home. Also surviving are brothers, Daniel (Pam) Muise, Wedgeport and Blair (Wendy) Deveau, Overton. She was predeceased by her loving grandmother, Louise Margaret Muise. The family received visitors from 12:30-1:30 PM, Wednesday, May 2, in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, followed by the funeral mass at 2:00 PM, from Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, Sainte Anne-du-Ruisseau, with interment in the parish cemetery, Father Crepin Khonde officiated. A reception followed at Le Club Acadien, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau. April 22, 2007 to April 28, 2007 continued SWEENEY, Frank William - 54, Arcadia. Born in Yarmouth on October 24, 1952, Frank passed away peacefully, as he had wished, in his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on April 27, 2007. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Frank was a very kind, humble and generous man. He was a friend to many and gave much of his time to helping others. He was a member of Saint Ambrose Cathedral. For the last 28 years he was a fisherman, fishing from the Yarmouth bar. Always ready to share a laugh, Frank had a keen sense of humour until the end of his life. He will be missed and remembered fondly by all who knew him. Frank is survived by and will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 28 years, Mary (Anderson); the only mother he ever knew, Margaret (Rogers); daughter, Marla Webber (Mike), Bridgewater, and son, Vernon (White), Arcadia, who all felt blessed to have had his strong, loving guidance for so many memorable years. He is also survived by his close and caring brothers, Marshall, Saskatoon; Jim (Carrie), Cheboque, and Tom (Cheryl), Lake George. Frank will be remembered always as Grampie by Maranda, Morgan and Mitchell Webber, and Bradford White. He also leaves behind nine nieces and six nephews, including his niece, Roxanne Surette, who gave him so much loving nursing care and made it possible for him to spend his last days at home with his family, as well as many loving aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his father, Clifton Sweeney; mother, Alice (Murphy), and sister, Sharon (Hines). Visitation was held Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with prayers at 8 p.m., in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. The funeral took place Monday, April 20 at 2 p.m. in St. Ambrose Cathedral, Father John MacPherson officiated. Interment in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. A reception followed in the Notre Dame Community Centre. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society, Childhood Asthma, or the Tri-County Victorian Order of Nurses. April 22, 2007 to April 28, 2007 continued FRY, George St. Clair “Buzz” - 80, Hebron, passed away April 28, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born April 23, 1927, in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late George and Eleanor (Giles) Fry. George was an active duty veteran of the Second World War at the age of 16. He was a member of the Regular Military Service, Reserve Forces member, member of the Masonic Lodge, past president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 61, Yarmouth, and supervisor of Yarmouth Armories (DND). He was a loving husband, father, grandfather (Papa) and great-grandfather (Grampy). He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Ann (Strickland) Fry; daughters, Susan H. Riordon, Yarmouth; Joy E. Fry (Larry Buchanan), Deerfield; "honorary daughter", Doris Cumby, Hebron; sons, Richard Fry, Edmonton; Mark S.C. Fry, Hebron. George is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, David Raynard, Wally and Pearl Strickland, Richard Strickland, and Carolyn Strickland; grandchildren, George, Ray, Michael, Lonnie, Karen, Tracy-Ann, Liam, Jessica; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. George was predeceased by his sons, George E. Fry and Christopher C. Fry; daughter, Karen in infancy; son-in-law, Capt. J. Terry Riordon. April 22, 2007 to April 28, 2007 continued Orland Theodor - 75, Belmont, Hants Co., loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather, passed away suddenly at his farm on April 24, 2007. Born in Belmont on May 11, 1931, he was a son of the late Roland and Christina Berggren. Orland dearly loved and found great peace in his sheep farm (Glenavon Farm) which he operated with Doreen since 1974. He was a very successful Raleigh salesman for 12 years, a carpenter and an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed working the farm. Orland is survived by his loving wife and friend of 49 years, Doreen (Swinamer); son, Barry (Cheryle), Edson, Alta.; daughters, Christine Johnson (Richard), Aylesford Lake; Janet Dowe (Donald), Gypsum Mines; Tina Berggren, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Tommy Anthony, Randy Anthony, Keith Richards, Emma Berggren, and Abby Berggren; sister, Erma Bruer (Armin), Mississauga; brother, Pirie (Shirley), Lower Sackville; several nieces and nephews, and his constant companion, Sookie. He was predeceased by brother, Waldo, and sister Rolina Collard. April 22, 2007 to April 28, 2007 continued BOWER, Hattie Frances, 95, of Surf Lodge Nursing Home, Lockeport, formerly of Lower Ohio, Shelburne Co., passed away in Surf Lodge Nursing Home on April 28, 2007. Born in Coffinscroft, she was a daughter of the late William Lewis and Seddie Eliza (Smith) Crowell. Hattie was a loving wife and mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was actively involved in all community events. She was a long standing member of the Ladies Aid and a long time member of CKOH Lodge. She began working as a telephone operator before she was married. She and her husband, Carlyle, loved to garden together and loved nature as well as travelling together. They loved the outdoors and the beauty of nature. Hattie is survived by son, Donald (Kay), Lr. Ohio; daughter, Betty (Ken) Stoddard, Port Clyde; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Carlyle; son, Lester and sister, Edith. Funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 1 in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, Shelburne with Rev. April 22, 2007 to April 28, 2007 continued Walsh, Raymond Joseph - 72, Kamsack, Saskatchewan. It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend on April 28/07 with his family by his side, from a bout of lung cancer. Raymond, better known as "Ray", was born in Saulnierville. He was the youngest son of the late John and Elise (Dugas) Walsh, born Sept. 17, 1934. After his mother's death in 1935, he became the foster son of the late Larry and Catherine (Deveau) Amirault of Salmon River, Digby County. After school, Ray went to St. Jean, Quebec, and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as an aircraft engineer; first he worked on old secondhand war planes and later on the new jets, as these were being introduced to the forces. In all, Ray was posted in other bases across Canada, and spent six years in the service. After he met and married his wife Rita (Fletcher), he went back to civilian life and they settled on Vancouver Island, and he became an engineer in the B.C. forest for several years. One of his best pastimes was his motorcycle, playing cards, family gatherings and his many friends. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rita; children Larry (Norma) Walsh, Darlene (Brent) Pauzé, all of British Columbia, Corrine (Jody) Patten, Kamsack; sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his siblings and in-laws, Gerald and wife Isabell, Dartmouth, Pauline Day, St. John, Bernice and husband Arthur Hall, Port Maitland, Yarmouth Co., Rachel Hall, Beaver River, Yarmouth Co.; and numerous nieces and nephews all across Canada and the U.S.A. He was predeceased by daughter, Pauline, siblings and in-laws Etta and Albert Deveau, Hubert and Emily Walsh, Hilda and Neil Comeau, Francis Walsh. His body has been cremated with committal at a later date in Campbell River.
April 22, 2007 to April 28, 2007 continued BUCHANAN, Wanda Patricia Lee, 48, of Toronto, Ontario, formally of West Green Harbour, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 in St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, Ontario. Wanda was a very loving and dedicated mother to Nikolas, Andreas and Alexandra. She is loved and greatly missed by her mother, Beatrice Buchanan, and sisters, Molly Smith, Sharon Shand (Mike), Bonnie Bell (Greg Kenney), Shelly MacIntosh (Eric) and their families. She was predeceased by her father, Louis Buchanan and brother-in-law, Lawrence Smith. After graduating from Dalhousie University and the University of Alberta, Wanda persued her career in theatre and the Arts. She settled in Toronto where she raised her family, worked as a marketing consultant and founded her own business. Wanda had a great passion for life and spent much time volunteering for various organizations and charities. Wanda will live forever in the hearts of her family and many friends. The funeral took place on Sunday, April 29 in the Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, Shelburne, N.S., with Rev. Sponagle officiating. Interment was in the Kohler Family Cemetery, West Green Harbour. Donations were made to the I.W.K.
April 22, 2007 to April 28, 2007 continued John Douglas Parker — 56, of Liverpool, died suddenly Friday, April 27, 2007 while on vacation in Cuba with his son. Born in Annapolis Royal, he was a son of Idella (Rowter) Parker of Maitland Bridge and the late Douglas Parker. John had a long and distinguished career with Parks Canada from where he retired last summer. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved and respected the beauty of nature and was never happier than when he was on the river. John will be ever remembered as a modest, kind person with a quick, dry sense of humor and will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife of 27 years, the former Anna-Lise Milford; daughter, Amy (Chris Chaisson) of Halifax; son, Ben of Liverpool; sister, Deborah Parker (Jim Wilcox) of Halifax. Funeral service was held Thursday, May 10 at Zion United Church, Liverpool; Rev. Jennifer Garbin officiated. A private family burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Maitland Bridge. Memorial service will be held Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 3 p.m. in Ingonish United Church; Rev. Chris Matheson officiating. Family flowers only.
