The Events is for non-profit listings of events in Digby County. Items may run twice for free before the event’s date. Items can be emailed to info@digbycourier.ca, faxed to 245-6136 or mailed to the Digby Courier at 124 Water St., P.O. Box 670, Digby, N.S., B0V 1A0, attention: Events. The deadline for submitting listings for the upcoming issue is Thursday at 4 p.m.

Fair

May 10

The Digby Area Health and Recreation Fair will be held May 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the Digby Regional High School gym. Health and recreation information, demos and door prizes. For information call 245-1951 or 245-1949.

Dinner

May 11

A veterans, ex-military and wives dinner will be held May 11 at 11:30 a.m. at the Sun Set Pub in Conway. For information call Vaughn Adams 245-2388.

Clinic

May 12

A well women’s clinic will be held May 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Digby General Hospital Consultants Clinic. To book an appointment call 245-2501 ext. 3282.

Spring fling

May 12

A spring fling featuring a gigantic community yard sale, bake sale and luncheon will be held at the North Range Hall on Saturday, May 12. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will also include a fishpond and sucker pull for kids. The luncheon will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Assorted hot/cold dishes, salads, rolls and cream pies. Proceeds from the day will go to the North Range Hall. For information contact Sheila Thomas at 245-4375 or Joyce Comeau at 245-2892.

Workshop

May 12

A card-making workshop will be held May 12 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Freeport school. Limited space. For information call Louise Chisholm at 839-2483. Proceeds for the ICS Home and School.

Supper

May 13

A Mother’s Day supper will be held May 13 from 5-6 p.m. at the Bear River Fire Hall that will include turkey with all the trimmings. Sponsored by the Bear River United Church.

Hockey meeting

May 15

The Digby Area Minor Hockey Association’s

annual general meeting will be held Tuesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. in the Digby Area Arena.

Senior games

To May 16

The Valley Senior Games, Digby, Zone #2, we will be holding games beginning April 18 to May 16. For information contact Diane Outhouse 839-2244.

Meeting

May 16

A Community Helping Hands organizational meeting will be held May 16 at 7 p.m. at the Clark’s Rutherford Elementary School in Clementsport. The goal is to assist school with volunteers and funding for Breakfast Program.

Soccer

Anyone interested in senior men’s soccer is asked to call 247-2842.

Indoor yard sale

May 19

An indoor yard sale sponsored by the Eastern Star will be held Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Masonic Hall located at the corner of King and Mount streets.

Farmer’s market

May 19

The Annapolis Royal Farmer’s and Trader’s Market opens for the new season on May 19 at 8 a.m. Open every Saturday morning thereafter.

Bottle drive

May 26

Spring bottle drive May 26 no later then 9 a.m., pick up (by the road) is from Centreville to East Ferry. Also drop off bottles at Digby Neck School anytime. Thank you for your support.

Concert

May 26

A community choir concert will be held May 26 from 2-4 p.m. at the DRHS Community Theatre. A benefit for Acaciaville Baptist Church. For advanced tickets call 245-4153.

Yard sale

May 26

A gigantic yard sale will be held May 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hillgrove Baptist Church. Proceeds to Hillgrove Baptist Vacation Bible School.

Cards

Mondays

7 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Bear River Branch #22.

Bingo

Tuesdays

Doors open at 6 p.m. Bingo at 7 p.m. at the Digby East Fish and Game.

Support group

Chronic Pain Support Group is in place within the community. Call 245-2623 or 638-3096.

Exhibit

Scallop Palette Gallery: New works by local artists until mid June at the Digby General Hospital.

Seniors’ fitness

Wednesdays

Get Moving Senior Fitness is held every Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Bear River Oakdene Centre and from 2:30-3:30 at the curling centre. For information contact 467-3091 or the Digby Recreation Department.

Get Dressed

Requesting good used clothing for men and women. New and unopened personal hygiene items. Used gift bags. Contact 245-2050.
