Team Shelburne being sued
Ocean Produce International has given notice to Team Shelburne that they will be sued over the state of Shelburne Place otherwise known as the Youth Centre.
In order to sue a government body there must be a 30-day notice given before proceeding with the actual lawsuit.
Ocean Produce is suing under the Statute of Elizabeth and the Assignments and Preferences Act of Nova Scotia against Team Shelburne alleging the fraudulent conveyance of the lands and premises locally known as Shelburne Place.
The members of Team Shelburne who have been issued warnings leading up to a lawsuit include the five municipal leaders that form Shelburne County, as well as Frank Anderson, Director of the South West Shore Development Authority, as Team Shelburne’s agent and the organization the South West Shore Development Authority.
Ocean Produce has been in legal battle with SWSDA for seven years and has recently sued SWSDA for $4-million and does not want the assets of SWSDA to be disposed of or hidden until the legal issues between the SWSDA and Ocean Produce are settled.
Ocean Produce Vice President Ed Cayer says the details of the lawsuit will come to light once the court proceedings begin.
