Trailer Park Boys style caper hits Shelburne

With lobster burgers and wheelchairs involved it might have been a caper the Trailer Park Boys could have conjured up.

Early Friday morning break and enters were reported into three Shelburne businesses, but the thieves proved to be fussy.

At the Shelburne Lions Hall only select brands of alcohol were taken. Two 40-ounce bottles of Captain Morgan rum went missing while several other varieties of liquor were left untouched. Dozens of beer bottles were also left but the fridge was emptied of coolers and particular varieties of beer.

It appears the thieves used a wheelchair to carry their ill-gotten gains from the hall.

Lion members, although angry over the break in, were relieved that there was little damage done, much less than an earlier break-in in the fall.

“It was probably the same people, who broke in last time,” said treasurer Harold Hart. “They knew where to go this time.”

Two other businesses in Shelburne were also victims of break-ins the same evening-morning including the Mr. Fish on King Street.

An employee found a side door forced open but when an inventory was taken, only a few lobster burgers had been stolen.

“They must have been hungry,” said an employee of the business.

Shelburne RCMP are investigating the break ins.
