RCMP seize cocaine, money in Birchtown raid
During the early morning hours of April 27 the Shelburne RCMP, helped by the Yarmouth Police Dog Services, executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at a residence in Birchtown. The search resulted in the seizure of cocaine, a large amount of money, along with other drug paraphernalia.
The 32-year-old male resident of the home, who was serving a Conditional Sentence on house arrest, was arrested and held in custody pending a court appearance. He will be charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
On April 26 the RCMP in Shelburne apprehended a 33-year-old resident of Shelburne with a small amount of cocaine in his possession after stopping a taxi in Birchtown. The man was a passenger in the taxi and was taken into custody. He faces charges for possession of cocaine and will be appearing in court at a later date.
The arrests came after a lengthy investigation by the Shelburne RCMP.
