MEETING

May 3

The next monthly meeting for MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) will be held Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. in the Sobeys Starr meeting room. All interested in becoming members, volunteering or just sitting in on the meeting are welcome to attend.


MUSEUM PRESENTATION

May 4



Rev. Ray Corbett will talk about the history and landscapes of Scotland in a slide presentation at the Yarmouth County Museum and Archives Friday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. This program is in honour of the International Gathering of the Clans.









DINNER

May 5

A roast beef dinner sponsored by the Fundy Southern Model Railroaders will be held May 5 from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus hall on Collins Street. Adults $10, children 12 and under $5. Take-out available.

YARD SALE/CAR WASH

May 5

A yuard and bake sakle and a car wash will be held at Foster’s Auto Sales in Dayton on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Proceeds for graduates of Ecole Secondaire de Par-En-Bas.



HERB BEST CLINIC

June 9-10

May 5 is the deadline for registration for the Herb Best Clinic (Bits and Boots Saddle Club) at Vintage Farms. Info: 648-3459.

CAR RALLY

May 5

A car rally will be held Saturday, May 5 (pre-register by May 2 call the club after 4 p.m. to do so.) at le Club Acadien in SAR. Starts art 1 p.m. Info: 648-2203.

DANCE

May 5

There will be a dance with DJ Kenney at 9 p.m. for members and guests at Le Club Acadien in SAR Saturday, May 5.

FLEA MARKET

May 5

A giant flea market will, be held at Ecole Secondaire de Par-en-Bas, Tusket, May 5. Doors open at 9 a.m. to the public. For tables or more information call 648-5900. Donation items appreciated. Proceeds for the school community centre.

CONCERT

May 5

"Let All the World In Every Corner Sing", an eclectic presentation of music presented by the Yarmouth Community Chorale on Saturday evening, May 5 at 7:30 p.m., at Beacon United Church. Special guest performers will be the Yarmouth Citizens Concert Band. Admission $8, children under 12, $4, family $20. For more information call 742-2722.

The Yarmouth Garden Club will be meeting Tuesday, May 8, 7 p.m at the Burridge Campus. Program –wildflower; presenter--Mary Guptill. Note change in Date and time.



KITCHEN PARTY

A kitchen party will be held at the New Horizon Room in West Pubnico on Wednesday, May 9, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The annual meeting of the Société historique acadienne de Pubnico-Ouest will be held Thursday, May 10, at 7 p.m. in the Room Blanche at the Musée acadien.

BOOK CLUB WEEKEND

May 11-12

There will be an On the Same Page ladies book club weekend at Camp Peniel May 11-12. (Book: Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow). Costs $45 includes snack, breakfast and lunch. Info: Camp Peniel 649-2471.

A breakfast fundraiser takes place Saturday, May 12, from 7:30-10 at the Richfield fire hall. Proceeds for the the Richfield Community Church.



SEAFOOD CHOWDER

May 12

A seafood chowder will be served in the Glenwood Hall on Saturday May 12 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.- Exit 32A off Highway 103. Homemade chowder, rolls, biscuits and pies, will be served. $10 per meal. Sponsored by the committee for the Argyle Historic Church. Call 643-2218 for more information





SEAFOOD CHOWDER SUPPER

May 12

A seafood chowder supper will be held May 12 at the Pleasant Valley Church, at 4:30 p.m. Proceeds will help send youths to camp.

CULTURE CREATIONS

May 12

On Saturday May 12 from 2-4 p.m the Yarmouth County Museum on Collins Street will host the work of the Culture Creations project for the public. This is the work of 22 children from five local elementary schools and made possible by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage. These are interactive displays for family viewing.

INDUCTION DINNER

May 12

Tickets for the 10th annual Sport Hall of Fame induction dinner (Saturday, May 12) are on sale at the Hall of Fame, 368 Main St., Tuesdays through Saturday from 1-4 p.m. and at City Drug. Deadline is May 5.

FAMILY FUN DAY

May 12

There will be a family fun day at le Club Acadien in SAR on Saturday, May 12. Yard sale from 8:30-3; pancake breakfast, 9-12, silent auction from 8:30-3, music with Blue Country starting at 1. Info: Jeanne Doucette, 648-2337.

The Ostomy Support Group meets Tuesday, May 15t, at the Yarmouth Hospital in the Ruth and Irving Pink conference room at 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker : Paula Watson, RN, CR. Topic : foot reflexology. There will also be planning for the group’s June end of year get together.

FAMILY FAIR

May 19

A family fair (silent auction, pony rides, fish pond, treasure chest, and yard sale) will be held at the Mariners Centre grounds near the riding ring on May 19. Proceeds for the Bits and Boots Saddle Club.

SUPPER

May 24

The Leif Erikson Chapter of IODE is holding a ham and scalloped potato supper May 24, 4-6 p.m. at Beacon United Church, Yarmouth. Dinner includes dessert and a beverage and costs $8. ($4 for children under 10). Take out available and there will be a bake table.



YARD SALE

May 26

Yard sale items are wanted for the Kaye Nickerson Centre’s spring yard sale. The sale is slated for Saturday, May 26. The centre is accepting items now.

MUSEUM EXHIBITS

Month of May

The Yarmouth County Museum has changed its look with all new exhibits in the main area. An exhibit "The Way We Used To Live", a collection of pictures made of old linoleum pieces collected from old homes and created by Martine Vermeulen, is on display until May 31. Open Tuesday - Saturday, 2 -

TV AUCTION

May 27

Big Brothers Big Sisters TV auction will be held on Sunday May 27 on Eastlink, Channel 5. This is a new time for the auction as it was previously held in April.

DANCE PARTY AND LESSONS
