To the Editor:
The Japanese bombed the military base of Pearl Harbour, sinking naval ships, destroying military buildings and killing military personnel.
In retaliation the US dropped atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing Japanese civilians. The question here is why civilians and not Japanese military bases in their retaliation?
The US burned Vietnam men, women and children in their huts with flamethrowers. The question; why civilians? Would these not be considered war crimes?
The US invaded Iraq without the sanction of the UN because they claimed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, which was a lie; because Iraq was a threat to the US, which was another lie; and because Iraq was responsible for inciting global terror, which, of course, was another lie.
How can the American and Canadian people believe that the way to peace is by the might of power and lies?
