Blessing of the pets

Oct. 4

Trinity Anglican Church, 109 Queen St., at 7 p.m. Take part in a service of God’s blessings. Pets must be on a leash or in a carrier. Freewill donations of pet food or money for local animal causes. For information call 245-6744.

Story program

Oct. 20

Stories to Brighten Your Day is a program of reading for the family. Children aged birth to 12 years and their parents or guardians can join the Isaiah W. Wilson Memorial Library in Digby for stories and a drawing activity. The program begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20 at the library. Register by Tuesday, Oct. 16 by calling the branch or e-mailing digby@nsy.library.ns.ca. Include the event name in the e-mail subject line and your name and phone number in the e-mail.

Mondays

The Digby Badminton Club at Digby Regional High School runs Monday nights until May 8. The cost is $35 for the season or $3 per night. Call 245-3759 for more information.

Library Card Month

October

Everyone who registers for a new library card or renews an old one has a chance to win a laptop computer or a six-month subscription to the Digby Courier. Transcontinental Media, publisher of the Courier, is a sponsor of Library Card Month. Library cards can be registered for or renewed at any branch of the Western Counties Regional Library. Hackmatack Club

Thursdays

Club Hackmatack at the Clare library is for young readers at the Grade 4, 5, and 6 level. Participants read interesting stories, vote for their favourite author and participate in lots of activities. This program is in French and takes place every Thursday starting on Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. The program runs until the end of April.

Seeking SAC members

The Digby Regional High School school advisory council (SAC) is looking for community members – two elected and one appointed, and one Parent/Guardian member. Students also form part of the council. There is one meeting a month, every 2nd Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. If you are interested contact the main office at 245-7500.

Sale tables
