Shelburne County was showcased last week to visitor information guides and managers from throughout western Nova Scotia.
The two-day FAM (familiarization) tour, organized by Discover Shelburne County, began in Lockeport on June 16 and ended in Woods Harbour the following day, with the 38 participants visiting numerous points in between.
“We tried to hit as many spots as we could,” said Shannon Crowell, chair of the tour’s organizing committee.
Tours of Lockeport and Shelburne harbors, visits to numerous museums and historical points of interest throughout the county, with a taste of local landscape and culture thrown in for good measure filled the itinerary.
Crowell said there was positive feedback from the tour participants, who complimented the accommodations, the food, the local hospitality and the sights.
“It’s just been super,” said Maggie Rio, manager of the Kingston visitor information centre.
Besides offering a closer look at what Shelburne County has to offer, the tour also afforded participants the opportunity for networking initiatives to promote and foster the tourism industry.
