Emma Young and Keegan Wood were named Senior Athletes of the Year when Northeast Kings Education Centre handed out its year-end athletic awards June 11.

Young, a team leader in soccer, basketball and softball, and Wood, who starred in soccer, cross-country, hockey, table tennis, softball and track and field, are both graduating this year and were popular choices.

For Wood, it was his second straight Senior Athlete of the Year award.

Both Young and Wood also earned Ron O’Flaherty Scholar-Athlete awards from the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation.

Isaac Turner, who played junior soccer and hockey, golf, table tennis, badminton and softball, was the choice for Junior Male Athlete of the Year. Gillian Tetlow and Kelsey Schofield, both talented all-round athletes, shared the Junior Female Athlete of the Year honours.
