RCMP responded to a total of 85 calls in Annapolis County during the week of December 8 to 15. Among these were five false alarm, six false 911s, 15 traffic incidents, and 10 domestic incidents.

Incidents of fraudulent activity on online sales services have been reported in each of the last two weeks. RCMP would remind residents to be alert and exercise due diligence when selling or purchasing online. For example, last week’s case of a false John Deere tractor ad on Kijiji has been observed in other provinces as well. In this scam, the unsuspecting buyer is directed to a fake eBay/Western Union “service rep” to complete the purchase. During the phone conversation the false rep attempts to gain access to information required to defraud the purchaser.

This holiday season, RCMP would also remind everyone to organize a sober drive home before partaking of the holiday cheer, and to remember to drive in accordance with road conditions. (Note: Due to the sensitive nature of complaints involving sexual assault, domestic violence, children’s welfare, and mental health, not all calls are considered appropriate for publication.)
