Trevor Milne, president of Gaiamatics Solutions will be the featured speaker at the next Tech Social on November 25 in Bridgetown.
Tech Socials are hosted on a semi-regular basis by the Annapolis Digby Economic Development Agency.
Milne is lead programmer, scientific director, and technical supervisor on all Gaiamatics Solutions projects. He is currently putting the final touches on Gaiamatics' first software release, ObliqueMapper. This program will allow users to use low-cost consumer-grade digital cameras to photograph areas of interest and create GIS data layers by digitizing objects such as streets, utility poles, and buildings within the pictures.
The software is easy to learn and does not require extensive geomatics training to be used effectively. ObliqueMapper can be applied to virtually any mapping project including urban resource management and planning, agriculture, environmental monitoring, archaeology, and forestry management. This revolutionary software is due out in January of 2009.
The Tech Social begins at 7 p.m. at the End of the Line Pub in Bridgetown.
