West Hants senior women’s soccer team left Digby alone in last place in the Valley District Soccer League with a 4-1 in over the Tigers.

West Hants and Digby had identical 0-10-1 records heading into the battle of the basement in Digby on Sunday night, July 20.

West Hants played a physical game but had the lion’s share of the possession and made their chances count.

Their first goal came after a miscommunication on the Digby defense offered up a clear shot on goal; the second goal West Hants earned with a sweet chip when an alert striker saw the Digby goalie just a stride or two too far off the line.

Kiersten Wagner scored for Digby in the second half when she received a throw in in the West Hants end and fooled the keeper with a slow moving flick at the net.

Digby sinks to the bottom of the nine-team league with two games left in the regular schedule.

They play Local 56 in Hantsport on Tuesday, July 22 and they finish the season off in Middleton on July 29.
