The Valley United premier men’s and women’s Tier 1 soccer teams were both holding down second place in their divisions as of July 9.

The Valley Premier men were at 4-1-2 following a scoreless draw with Halifax City July 4. Andrew MacRae earned the shutout for Valley United.

June 27, Valley dropped a 2-1 decision to Halifax Dunbrack, with Devin Tetlow scoring the Valley goal.

The Valley Premier women, meanwhile, were at 4-3-3, good for second in their division. In their most recent game, June 30, the women edged Suburban 2-1, with Robyn McNeill and Brittany Green handling the Valley scoring.

The U-14A girls remained third in their division at 2-0-4 following a 2-2 draw with Suburban June 30. Mariah Carey had both her team’s goals.

The remaining Valley United teams were unfortunately closer to the bottom than the top of their divisions.

The U-18 girls were fourth in their division with a 5-2-3 record after splitting a pair of games on the July 1 weekend.

June 30, the U-18 girls were blanked 1-0 by South Shore, but they came back the following day to top Dunbrack 5-2. Emily Nickerson had two of the Valley goals, with Dominique Foote, Regan Troop and Christina Visentin adding single goals.

The U-18 boys were in fifth place at 2-5-2 following a 3-1 loss to Halifax City July 7. Kieran Collins had the Valley goal.

The U-14A boys were still searching for their first victory of the season following a 3-2 loss July 1 to Halifax City. Jacob Shaffelburg and Mike Sander-Marceus had the Valley goals. The U-14 A boys were 0-6-2, tied for sixth in their seven-team division.

The U-14B boys were sixth in their division at 2-6-1. In their most recent game June 30, the U-14B boys shaded Suburban 2-1, with Jonah Shankel and Callum Pardy doing the scoring.

The U-16 girls were seventh in their division at 1-3-1 after picking up their first victory of the season, 3-0 over Cape Breton July 6. Gabrielle Lazaric, Nicole Cormier and Mackenzie Pardy had the Valley goals.

In their previous game, the U-16 girls were blanked 2-0 June 30 by Dartmouth.

The U-16 boys were also looking for their first win of the season after five straight losses left them eighth and last in their division. In their most recent game June 30, the U-16 boys lost 4-1 to Dartmouth, with Brandon Dube scoring the Valley goal.
