The June 13 weekend was a more successful one for Valley United Tier 1 soccer teams, which picked up three wins against just one loss.

The Valley U-14 girls improved to 5-2 on the season with a 3-0 win over Halifax City June 13 and a 2-1 victory over South Shore June 14. In the June 13 game, Jessica Shaffelburg scored twice and Emily Nickerson once, and Brianna Dolan earned the shutout. June 14, Shaffelburg’s second-half goal was the game-winner. Julia Collins had scored for Valley and Sarah Taylor for South Shore in the first half.

In a game June 16 in Halifax, the U-14 girls and the provincial U-13 team played to a 1-1 draw. Tessa Fudge had the Valley goal.

The Valley U-14 boys blanked Dartmouth 3-0 June 13 in Dartmouth. Taylor Gosse, Cody Holland and Robert Patterson had the goals; Catlin Gould and Matt Lannan shared the shutout. The U-14 boys then played to a 2-2 draw with Halifax City June 14, with Holland and Kieran Collins scoring the Valley goals.

June 17 in Halifax, the U-14 boys improved to 3-1-2, good for second in their division, with a 3-2 win over the provincial U-13 team. Corey Cadeau had a pair of first-half goals for Valley, and Collins’s second-half marker ended up the game-winner.

The U-16 boys got three goals from Alex Verge and one from Jacob MacRae in a 4-1 win over Halifax City June 14 to improve to 2-1.

The U-16 girls improved to 2-1-1 with a 3-0 victory over South Shore June 13. Kinsella Noseworthy-Smith, Emilie Lake and Haleigh Fletcher had the goals.

The U-18 girls dropped to 1-2-1 with a 1-0 loss to Dartmouth United June 13.

The Valley Kings Arms senior men’s team earned its first win, and improved to 1-2, with a 1-0 win over Cape Breton June 13. James Nunn scored the game’s only goal, and Andrew MacRae earned the shutout.

The Valley senior women, meanwhile, dropped to 1-4-1 with a 2-1 loss (Emily Burns scored the lone Valley goal.) and a draw against Cape Breton June 13.

In Tier 2A action (U-12 and U-14 boys’ and girls’ Tier 2A teams also play under the Valley United banner), the Valley U-12 2A girls tied 1-1 with Halifax Dunbrack, with Shay-Leigh Beaton scoring the Valley goal. The U-12 2A boys tied Scotia 2-2, with William Warren netting both Valley markers. I

n U-14 2A girls’ play, Bedford edged Valley 3-2, with Dominique Foote and Maude Greer scoring the Valley goals.

With Valley District Soccer hosting the Valley Kickoff tournament on the June 20 weekend, the only Valley United teams in action were the Kings Arms senior men and the Valley senior women.

The senior men improved to 3-2 with a 1-0 win over Halifax City on Sunday. It was the third straight win for Kings Arms, all by shutout, after starting the season with a pair of losses.

Again, the Valley women were not as fortunate, dropping to 1-5-1 on the season with a 4-0 loss to the Nova Scotia Canada Games team.
