Paddlers with the Pisiquid Canoe Club are starting to reap the rewards of the hard work they’ve put in during the training season.
Several local paddlers recorded top five finishes at during a recent Atom regatta at the Sackawa Canoe Club in Lower Sackville.
Jasmine Smith, Pisiquid’s Atom coach, said she was impressed to see the young paddlers finishing among the top of the pack time and time again at the regatta.
“They’re dong a great job. It was really nice to see,” said Smith.
“We have a lot of kids that are really strong paddlers for their age.”
Smith isn’t about to take all of the credit for the team’s success. She said head coach Katherine King devotes a lot of energy to showing the local paddlers that although they hail from a small club in Hants County, they have what it takes to compete with the best of the best if they put the work in.
“Our head coach has made exponential difference,” said Smith, who has three years of experience with Pisiquid.
