Rebecca MacPherson, a senior swimmer with the Wolfville Tritons, is off to Victoria, B.C., this coming week to take part in the Swimming Canada trials for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the Junior Pan-Pacific championships.
MacPherson, a 17-year-old Canning resident who recently committed to Acadia swimming, is the only member of the Tritons attending the trials.
"I'm really excited to race next week," she said March 28. "It's my first time in B.C., and the meet will be really exciting to watch the senior team get picked while I'm also racing for selection at the junior level."
The meet serves as the senior team selection for the Commonwealth Games, and also has a junior selection for the upcoming Junior Pan-Pacific championships, among several other youth and junior national teams.
"It's a great racing opportunity for Rebecca as we look to build off a strong season following last summer's Canada Games," said Tritons and Acadia head coach Chris Stone.
The meet runs from April 2 to 5 at Saanich Commonwealth Place in Victoria.
