Two local hockey players are representing Nova Scotia at the Midget Atlantics this weekend in Deer Lake, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Kings County goalie Kate Spooner and forward Courtney Foster play for the East Hants Pro Cresting Penguins. The girls’ midget AAA team won its first provincial championship March 22, defeating Metro Boston Pizza in four games.

The Penguins were originally scheduled to begin play this afternoon, April 3, but all three Maritime teams were aboard a Marine Atlantic ferry stuck in the ice en route from Cape Breton so the schedule was revised.

Nova Scotia will now have it's first game

All round-robin games will now be three 15-minute periods with Sunday’s medal round being three 20-minute periods.

Results are available here and games can be watched live here.
