The CP Allen Cheetahs, from Bedford, captured their third NSSAF Division I Boys Hockey Championship in the past six seasons on Sunday afternoon, March 23, by sidelining the Lockview Dragons 2-1.

The Dragons advanced to the provincials with a 4-3 win over the Avon View Avalanche on Monday, March 17 at the Hants Exhibition Arena. They won the best of three series 2-0.

The Avalanche improved immensely after losing the opening game of the series 7-1 in Sackville.

Avon View’s team captain Trevor House started the scoring off in the first period, with Lockview’s Daniel Green tying it up before the period ended.

Brady Jacobs and Green scored for Lockview in the middle frame, with Avon View’s House and Brett Wallace scoring to keep the game tied 3-3.

The Avalanche were on the verge of forcing a third and deciding game until the Dragons’ Green scored the winner with 1:15 left in the game.

Despite the setback, this season was a success for the Avalanche. The team demonstrated determination to play at all times.

Wallace and House finished in a tie for the Valley High School Hockey League scoring championship title, with 45 points respectively. Wallace had 28 goals to House's 25.

Goaltender Alex Williams placed second in the league for his goals against average of 2.01.

All three players are graduating this year from Avon View, along with Jake Lloy, Matt Brison, Tristan Horner and Cory Whitney.
