Peewee A Mariners edged out 5-4 in first provincial playdown game

The Yarmouth Scotiabank Peewee A Mariners were edged out 5-4 by Western Valley in Game 1 of a best-of-three game provincial playdown series on Sunday in Bridgetown.

Throughout the game the two teams were either tied or only separated by one goal. Western Valley scored the winning goal with 2:34 remaining in the game.

Scoring for the Mariners were Dylan Landry, Justin Goodwin, Isaac Nickerson and Justin Surette.

Adding assists were Justin Goodwin, Ryan Warner, Dylan Landry, Ryan Semple, Ethan Doucette, Rylan d’Entremont and Max Nickerson. Kennedy Pitman was in net.

Game 2 of the series will be played in Yarmouth on Saturday at 3:15 p.m.

On Saturday the peewee A Mariners defeated the Shelburne Flames 4-3 in exhibition play. Scoring for Yarmouth were Isaac Nickerson with a pair of goals, Jared Minard and Dylan Landry. Adding assists were Isaac Moore (2), Ryan Semple, Ethan Doucette and Rylan d’Entremont. Liam White was in net.
