Coming off a 5-2 loss to the Panthers the night before, Acadia Axemen are back in the win column with an 8-3 victory over St. Thomas Saturday night in Wolfville.

The Axemen scored three times in the first period to start off the match, adding another five goals in the second period. The Tommies had two second period goals and the single marker of the third period.

Acadia's goals came from Brett Thompson, Michael Clarke, AUS scoring leader Liam Heelis, Chris Owens, Taylor Makin, Geoff Schemitsch and KC Brown. Assits were from Cazzola, Ekelman, Cullen Morin, Thompson, Schemitsch, Owens, Heelis, Leo Jenner, Scott Trask and Clarke.

Heelis now has 22 goals and 39 points in 24 games this season. Makin's goal was his first for the Axemen, in his third game with Acadia.

Stephen Sanza, Randy Cameron and Yuri Cheremetiev scored for St. Thomas. Sanza, Matt Bissonette, Jonathan Bonneau and Cameron had assists.

Compared to the night before, it was a penalty heavy game - six of the 11 goals were on power plays - with a long list,  including 10-minute misconducts to Acadia's Alex Beaton and Colin Archer.

St. Thomas' Jonathan Groenheyde stopped seven of 10 shots in the first 14 minutes of the game before being replaced by Alex St. Arnaud, who allowed five goals on 30 shots.

Acadia's Evan Mosher made 19 saves in the win.

Cazzola, Makin and Brown were chosen stars of the game.
