The Yarmouth Mariners will be without goaltender Chase Gaudet for its games this weekend, as Gaudet is being called up to Saint John Sea Dogs to cover an injury for the team's games in Quebec.
The Saint John Sea Dogs have recalled goaltender Gaudet, 19, who is an affiliate player for the QMJHL team.
Gaudet is in his third season with the Mariners, compiling a record of 12-7 with a 3.42 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage in 21 games.
He also played nine games last season with Shawinigan as a free-agent signee of the Cataractes, posting a record of 0-5 with a 6.17 goals-against average and a .819 save percentage.
Gaudet will join the team for its upcoming road trip through Quebec.
Mariners head coach Laurie Barron says Gaudet will be back with the Mariners after this weekend.
The team has already been without Gaudet for a while as he's been serving a suspension resulting from a goalie fight that occurred at a game at the Mariners Centre earlier in January.
The Mariners host the Amherst Ramblers – who they lost to 8-3 last weekend – on Friday, Jan. 31. On Saturday, Feb. 1, the Mariners host the Campbellton Tigers.
