Avon View boys' hockey team defeats Horton 5-1

The Avon View Avalanche boys’ hockey team allowed Horton High the first goal of the game Saturday evening, Jan. 18, at Hants Exhibition Arena but then responded with five goals to record a 5-1 win.

It was their seventh victory of the season against three losses and one overtime loss.

The win moved the Avalanche into sole position of fourth place in the Valley High School Hockey League standings with 15 points, one point ahead of West Kings and one back of Northeast Kings.

Goal scorers in the Saturday bout included Trevor House, Brett Wallace, Ben Davidson, Matt Brison and Liam Kelley.

William Earley was in nets for the win.

The hockey team is off this week for exams. They will resume play Jan. 31 in Kingston against the Wolverines from West Kings.

Avon View has two make-up games with the Digby Mariners scheduled for next month. The first will be played in Windsor on Friday, Feb. 14 at 7:45 p.m., with the second in Digby on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m.
