Sir John A Flames win Cook's Cup; Avonview wins consolation game

The Sir John A Flames of Tantallon won the Cook's Cup with a 5-3 win over St. Malachy of Saint John, New Brunswick, during the Dec. 8 championship game of the Cook's Cup at the Mariners Centre in Yarmouth.

St. Malachy had come back after being down 4-0 in the game, but wasn't able to catch up with the Flames.

In the consolation game, the 4-3 win went to the Avonview Avalanche over the host Yarmouth Vikings. It was a tight score with the two teams tied for much of the game, or one team only ahead by one goal. All of the scoring occured in the first and second periods.
