The visiting Sackville Blazers were a force to be reckoned with Friday night as they thumped the Valley Maple Leafs 10-1 at the Hants Exhibition Arena in Windsor.

The Blazers led the Leafs 4-1 after the first, and took a commanding 6-1 lead after the second. The lone goal scorer for the Leafs was David Hayes, who scored the second goal of the evening. Picking up the assist was Alex Feltmate.

Fans were hoping the Leafs would be able to mount a triumphant third period comeback, but the players kept running into trouble.

It was an unruly home game Dec. 6, one that was riddled with penalties.

In the first period, the Blazers spent just two minutes in the penalty box while the Leafs played shorthanded for 12 minutes. The second period was a bit more even, with the Blazers accumulating 12 penalty minutes to the Leafs' eight. The third period, however, was not pretty. The Leafs basically doubled the Blazers, recording 22 penalty minutes plus two 10-minute misconducts and one game misconduct. The Blazers had 10 penalty minutes plus two 10-minute misconducts.

Of the 10 goals the Blazers scored, four were on the power-play and one was shorthanded. Scoring for the Blazers were Cody Peveril (2), Ryan Davis (2), Braden Kamermans (2), Matt Arthur, Jordan Keizer, Aaron Meehan, and Justin Hessian.

Liam Cavanagh was tagged with the loss while the Blazers' Jon Boutin recorded the win.

The Valley Maple Leafs will be trying to bounce back from this loss when they play Friday, Dec. 13 in Windsor against the St. Margaret's Bay Ducks. Game time is 7:50 p.m.
