High school hockey takes centre stage once again this weekend as Northeast Kings Education Centre hosts the annual Art Lightfoot Tournament at the Kentville Centennial Arena.

The tournament is held each February, and commemorates the memory of the late Art Lightfoot, a long-time Kentville resident and ardent supporter of Valley high school hockey.

Valley teams Horton, Central Kings, West Kings, Middleton and the host NKEC Titans will be joined in the tournament field by Clare, Bridewater and Ecole Par en Bas.

Action gets underway Friday at 3 p.m. with NKEC meeting Clare. Middleton and Central Kings play at 4:30.

In the evening, West Kings and Par en Bas play at 6, Horton and NKEC at 7:30 and Bridgewater and Clare at 9 to close out Friday's schedule.

On Saturday, West Kings and Middleton will get things started bright and early at 8 a.m., followed by Central Kings against Par en Bas at 9:30.

Clare and Horton will meet at 11 p.m., NKEC and Bridgewater at 12:30, Central Kings and West Kings at 2 p.m., Middleton and Par en Bas at 3:30 and Horton and Bridgewater at 5.

Crossover semifinals will take place Saturday evening, with the second and third place teams from the round robin meeting at 7:30 followed by first against fourth at 9.
