Two Valley golfers finish top-five at senior men's provincials

A pair of Valley golfers finished in the top-five at the Nova Scotia Golf Association senior men's championship played Aug. 6-8 at Digby Pines. 

Tom Banks of Paragon in Kingston was second overall with rounds of 72-71-72 for a total of 215, four strokes behind the winner, Ernie Sheaves of Bell Bay, who finished at 211.

Gerry MacMillan, also of Paragon, opened with a 69, which gave him the first-round lead. MacMillan shot 76 in rounds two and three, leaving him fourth overall at 221, 10 strokes off the lead. 

A pair of golfers from Avon Valley in Falmouth, Dean Woodman and Bill Chipman, finished tied for eighth with scores of 224. Woodman had rounds of 78-76-70, while Chipman shot 78-73-73.

Another Paragon golfer, Erwin Banks, finished tied for 12th at 227 following rounds of 226, 226, 225.
