The 20th anniversary Apple Tree Foundation Charity Golf Classic will take place Aug. 8 at Berwick Heights.
This year’s tournament is being held in memory of long-time foundation volunteer Pat Dutton, who co-ordinated the first tournament in 1995 in support of Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre (KRRC).
The long-running tournament has been a popular event on the charity golf circuit throughout the Valley, and the organizing committee hopes to see many returning players and sponsors back this year. Tee off time for the four-person scramble is 9 a.m.
The event includes a silent auction, a variety of ticket draws, putting contest, team prizes and a barbecue chicken lunch. Team registration is first come, first serve at a cost of $440. Charitable tax receipts are issued for $240 per team, or $60 per player.
Over its 20-year history, the tournament has raised in access of $300,000 for projects and programs supporting clients at KRRC. Funds from this year’s event will offset the cost of a new wheelchair accessible van for the centre.
