The Valley was well represented when the Nova Scotia Golf Association announced the young golfers chosen to be part of its 2014 junior development program.

Three of the four girls and two of the eight boys chosen to the team call the Kings County area home.

Named to the girls’ team are sisters Meghan McLean, 15, and Heather McLean, 13, of Port Williams; and Darcy Fuller, 16, of Avonport.

The Kings County boys’ team representatives are Drew Ward, 15, of New Minas, and Taylor Brown, 15, of Port Williams.

The program aims to provide promising young players with training and coaching programs that align with national standards.

The goal of Team Nova Scotia is to ensure there is a co-ordinated and consistent approach, giving junior golfers from Nova Scotia access to a process that will maximize their success.

All five Kings County golfers chosen to the provincial team are considered to be among the best in the province for their ages.
