Each curling draw during the M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Championships needs an announcer, and four volunteers stepped up to the plate to do the job.

John Wiles and Kevin Page are two of four announcers who have been helping out with the Canadian Junior Curling Championships this week.
John Wiles, a long time radio host for CKBW, and Kevin Page, a financial planner who often plays host for events, have been announcing nearly all the teams this week along with John Murray and Greg Lowe, also from CKBW.
“We’ve been pretty much at every draw through the whole thing in one capacity or another,” says Wiles.
Wiles announced for the opening ceremony alongside Richard Comeau who translated the announcing in French.
“You stick a microphone in front of me and I’ll talk,” says Wiles.

Besides announcing, the two have also been doing driving for the teams and other volunteer tasks. According to Wiles, Page is very good at “hawking” programs.
“They say I was pretty good at it,” laughs Page.
The men are a part of a team of over 280 volunteers helping to make the championships possible. The championships ends on Jan. 26.
