There are 10 provincial teams plus the host, Vaughan, Ontario, taking part in the national tournament. This is the sixth consecutive year that the 15U Boys Championship is held in Vaughan.
Jones was one of 18 players selected to the 15U Nova Scotia roster from a field of prospective players that initially numbered 150. Jones has also been selected to participate in the 2015 Canada-Cuba Goodwill Tour in late January/early February. As part of this program players will play games against Cuban teams and will visit schools and experience the Cuban culture.
Mercier, named Yarmouth County’s youth athlete of the year in 2012, played baseball on a U16 elite team in Ontario this past year and is playing AAA baseball in Moncton this summer. Mercier is also doing the Canada-Cuba Goodwill Tour as well.
Jones and Mercier have both played on AA and AAA teams together in Yarmouth and in 2013 were part of an under-14 summer showcase team that played out of Ontario.
