Shelburne athlete wins chance to compete at nationals in B.C.

Bailey Bent is heading to British Columbia this summer to take part in a national track and field competition.

Young local athlete Bailey Bent, a grade 9 student from Shelburne Regional High School, has succeeded in securing second place in the Nova Scotia Legion trials held in Dartmouth last week.

This past spring he took home the high school’s sole gold medal in the provincial track and field games.

After throwing 42.43, Bent will be heading to the national Legion competition in British Columbia this August.

Bent will be competing against other midget-aged athletes from across Canada.
