Elijah Mailman, a Grade 6 student at Digby Elementary School, was the first one across the line at the 2014 Ocean Blue Fun Run.

Elijah finished the sixth annual run in a time of 21:37, first of 186 runners from five Digby area schools: Digby, Barton, Weymouth, Digby Neck and Islands.

The first female runner was Paige Ettinger in a time of 24:33.

The run serves as a graduation of sorts for the students who take part in the Doctors Nova Scotia Kids Running Club. This year over 240 Digby County students took part in the program.

Kerry Copeland of Doctors Nova Scotia was in town to start the race and said Digby is one of the few places in the province where they hold a fun run for elementary school students.

The Ocean Blue Fun Run is 4.2 km in length and gives the students a total of 42 km run during the whole of Kids Running Club program.

Forty-two kilometres is the distance of a marathon race.
