St. Mary’s Bay Academy junior Stingrays topped the Barrington Barons 48-34 in exhibition hoop action at home Friday night.

Sebastian Mullen, the only player to score in all four quarters, led the Stingrays with a game high 14 points.

The Stingrays doubled up on the Barons 12-6 in the first quarter and extended their lead with a 14-4 run in the second.

The Barons caught the host team off guard as they used a full court press to slow the Stingray offence and win the third quarter, 16-10.

The visitors struggled from the line shooting two of 14, missing the opportunity to catch the Stingrays.

SMBA won the fourth quarter 12-8 to put the game away.

The Barons shot four of 16 from the line while the Stingrays were 0-10.

Campbell said the win against Barrington moves the Stingrays’ record to 11-2 this season.

“We have won three league games to date with three more in hand,” said Campbell.

Barons coach Mike Scott said he was pleased with how well his team picked up their game in the second half.

“I felt the team played well tonight,” said Scott. “They were successful in moving the ball and executing the full court press.”

Along with Mullen, Ethan Mullen netted 10 points before fouling out early in the fourth quarter and Simon Frizzell and Jack Sabine scored eight points each for the Stingray win.

Kirt Brannen led the Barons with nine points while Owen Symonds added seven. Tyson Smith and Roan Messenger each chipped in each points.
