On Friday and Saturday, Jan. 10 -11, the Middleton Regional High School senior girls basketball team will host their annual Heart of the Valley Tournament. This year’s teams include Central Kings, Springhill, Yarmouth, and the host Monarchs.

With 11 players returning from last year’s Provincial Championship team, the Monarchs boast experience along with some exciting rookies. The team is led by five seniors – guards Maridith Brown, Sage Dixon, Tara Armstrong, Toni Jewer-Pineau, and post Jennifer Adams.

The Monarchs have been dominant in the post so far this season with strong play from Adams, Lauren Wentzell, Erica Theisen, Sydney Smith, Emma Gillespie, and rookies Martina MacKinnon and Anika Mensing. The returning seniors along with Kyra Britney, Eden Burke, and rookies Alaina Britney, Courtney Garand, and Ally Garand give the squad solid scoring from the wing and play tenacious defense.

The team was chosen to host the Division 3 NSSAF Girls Provincial Championship February 27 to March 1.
