AMHA players with jerseys get in free
The Valley Junior A Wildcats will be in need of a victory tonight when they host the CIBC Wood Gundy Lumberjacks in a 7:30 start in Kentville.
The Wildcats picked up one point of a possible four from their first two games this week on the road, losing 5-2 Friday in Woodstock after dropping a 4-3 overtime decision to the Dieppe Commandos Thursday in Dieppe.
On Thursday at the Arthur J. LeBlanc Arena in Dieppe, Lindon Beckwith’s goal at 2:55 of overtime was the game-winner after the teams finished 60 minutes tied at three.
Beckwith and Colton Parsons each had a goal and an assist for Dieppe. Brad Ryckman had a pair of goals, one of them on the power play, for the Wildcats. Grant Janes had the other Valley goal.
Dylan Frank was solid in goal for the Wildcats, as Dieppe had a 43-21 edge in shots on goal.
The following evening in Woodstock, the hometown Slammers led 2-0 after one period and 4-1 after 40 minutes en route to their 5-2 win.
Zack Whitlock and Brett MacLean had two goals each for Woodstock. Janes and Jamie MacIntyre scored for the Wildcats, who were outshot 38-28.
