The host Valley District Soccer Association walked away with 11 medals from the annual Valley Kickoff tournament held June 19-21 in Wolfville, Port Williams, Centreville, New Minas and Kentville.

Competition took place in 12 different divisions, from U-10 through to Senior Women, during the three-day tournament. Ninety-one teams in all registered.

There was good competition throughout, most notably in the championship finals where all but one was decided by two goals or less. There were no championship medals awarded in the U-10 division.

Halifax Dunbrack won the U-12 A boys, edging Dartmouth 1-0 in the final. Sackville captured the U-12 B boys with a 2-1 win over West Hants. In U-12 B girls, Bedford captured gold with a 4-2 win over Scotia.

Scotia took the U-14 A boys with a 2-1 win over Dunbrack. West Hants defeated East Kings Stroh 3-2 in the U-14 B boys’ final. In U-14 B girls, Digby edged Somerset Lamb 1-0 in the final.

In the U-16 division, Yarmouth won the U-16 A boys with a 3-1 victory over East Hants. East Kings Hubley edged Kings West Wadden 3-2 in U-16 B boys and East Kings Dekoe defeated New Germany 7-2 in the U-16 girls’ final, the only lopsided score in 11 championship games.

Cole Harbour edged Kings West Hake 4-3 in the U-18 girls’ final and in Senior Women, Kings West captured gold with a 3-1 win over Windsor.
