The majority of Valley United Tier 1 soccer teams were off to slow starts in the early going of the Nova Scotia Soccer League outdoor season.

The Valley U-16 boys and girls played their season openers May 23 in Wolfville. The U-16 boys dropped a 3-1 decision to Dunbrack, with Wonny Shin scoring the lone Valley goal.

The U-16 girls and Halifax City played to a 2-2 draw in their season opener. Carly Goodine and Jennifer Poirier scored the Valley goals.

The Valley U-14 boys opened their season May 23 in Halifax, playing to a 2-2 draw with Dunbrack. Logan McNeill and Robert Patterson scored the Valley goals.

The U-14 girls met Dartmouth United May 23 on the Burnside turf and won 3-2 to improve to 2-1 on the season. Tessa Fudge had two Valley goals, including the eventual winner, and Julia Collins had the other goal.

The Valley U-18 girls opened their season May 16 with a 2-0 win over Scotia. Chantal S. Landry and Chantal M. Landry had the goals, and keeper Carrie Wood earned the shutout.

May 19, the U-18 girls were blanked 3-0 by the provincial U-16 girls’ team, squaring their record at 1-1.

The U-18 boys opened their season May 20 in Halifax against the provincial U-16 boys’ team, and ended up on the short end of a 4-0 score.

The Valley senior A women’s team also opened its regular season May 23 in Wolfville, and ended up losing 4-2 to the Canada Games team. Kristen Crocker and Cathleen Bleakney had the Valley goals.

The Valley Kings Arms senior A men’s team was scheduled to play its season opener May 31 against Dartmouth.
