Board of Trade’s awards, Thursday, will honor ‘excellence’

Digby, NS: The Digby Area Board of Trade has announced the names of the recipients of its Annual Business Awards of Excellence. These awards will be given at the Annual Dinner to be held at the Digby Legion on Mount Street 6:pm on Thursday November 20th.

Digby, NS: The Digby Area Board of Trade has announced the names of the recipients of its Annual Business Awards of Excellence. These awards will be given at the Annual Dinner to be held at the Digby Legion on Mount Street 6:pm on Thursday November 20th.

The guest speaker is Tim Curry the founding president of the Atlantica Centre for Energy, an industry and community association dedicated to growing and harvesting the economic development benefits from the vibrant regional energy cluster centred in South-western New Brunswick. The recipients are:

Frank MacKintosh, retired Mayor of Digby who is to receive the Life Achievement Award. This award is dedicated to a business or an individual who has made a significant contribution to the community within the context of their career.

Bear River Wineries who will receive the Hospitality Award for a business/individual/organization who has shown a consistent pattern of providing positive tourism experience for travellers to our area.

The Wharf Rat Rally Committee will receive the Tourism Excellence Award for a business/organization/person who has made a significant contribution to the enhancement/development of our tourism product.

Sobeys, Digby will receive the Community Contribution (Business) for a business/individual who has made a significant contribution to the community through their consistent support of projects/programs that are for the benefit of our area. The Manager William Harvey and his staff are considered to be extremely pro-active and receptive.

The Conway Workshop Society will receive the Community Contribution (Non Profit) for an organization or and individual who have made a significant contribution through their consistent support of projects/programs that are beneficial to the area.

Guy LeBlanc the owner of Guy's Frenchys will receive the Entrepreneur Award for a business/individual who have either developed a product or enhanced a marketing opportunity that is unique or innovative.

Lewis Mouldings of Weymouth will receive the Business Excellence (NSBI Trophy) Award which is reserved for a business/individual who has through consistent performance and solid practice made a positive impact in this area. This award is one of achievement within the business community.
