Seven Wonders of Nature

The Bay of Fundy is now playing in the big leagues when it comes to international nature tourism. It has just been officially nominated as a participant in a new worldwide contest for the New7Wonders of Nature.

Bay of Fundy Tourism made a compelling case for Fundy’s inclusion in the contest and will now coordinate the Fundy voting effort.

Voting for the new seven natural wonders of the world takes place online immediately with the first milestone in the contest occurring Dec. 31, 2008 when one Canadian site will be short-listed to represent Canada in the continuing international contest.

Welcoming New Staff

The Kings CED Agency welcomes Anna Sherwood as the new Active Communities Coordinator. The Active Communities Coordinator is responsible for providing support to enhance opportunities in physical activity, sport and recreation throughout the Annapolis Valley. Anna has a background in recreation, having graduated with a Bachelor of Recreation Management from Acadia University. Anna commenced her duties Sept. 29, 2008.

Work Term Extension

The Kings CED Agency is taking part in the Valley African Nova Scotian Development Association’s (VANSDA) Youth Skills Program. The Youth Skills Program involves eight youth, who will partner with various businesses in Kings, Hants and Annapolis Counties. The participants of the program will build partnerships with sponsor businesses for a total of 24 weeks. Each participant gains experience working with up to six different businesses.

On Sept. 15, 2008, the Kings CED Agency welcomed Brandy Stirling. Brandy was originally slated to remain with the Agency until Oct. 31, 2008. However, the Kings CED Agency will extend Brandy’s term and she will continue to work with the Agency until Dec. 12, 2008.
