People helpful after painful fall

Thursday June 26, 2008, after visiting beautiful Halifax and driving through the countryside on our way to New Brunswick, we decided to stay in Windsor. We booked a room in the very nicely restored Avonside Motel in Falmouth and went for dinner at the cozy Rose Arbor Café. Excellent food and great, friendly service. Next, we walked through Gerrish Street toward Thomas Street, just for sightseeing. We crossed the road and took the south side sidewalk back.

Almost right across from the Rose Arbor Café, however, my wife Meta tripped over an uneven part of the sidewalk. A ridge approximately one inch high made her to fall flat on her face, causing a very bloody face, hands and knees, broken denture -- beyond repair we found out later, and scratched glasses.

Friendly Windsor people were there immediately to help us and drive us over to the hospital. The treatment and service at the Hants Community Hospital were excellent.

We would like to express a sincere ‘thank-you’ to all the great people that helped us.

The next morning, back for breakfast at Rose Arbor Café, we found out from local people that another person had a bad fall at the same spot.

We would suggest the town buy and use fluorescent paint to mark these irregularities in the sidewalks, to avoid more discomfort and financial hardship, for example for a new denture and lenses.

We invite you to visit our friendly town, Kincardine, Ontario, on beautiful Lake Huron. You will notice that uneven spots in the sidewalks are fixed, or clearly marked.

Once again, to all the people who were so nice to us, thank-you very much.
