During a fire, before opening any doors along your escape route, kneel or crouch at the door, reach up as high as you can and touch the door and its frame with the back of the hand. If the door is warm, use an alternate escape route. If the door is completely cool, open it cautiously. Put your shoulder against the door and open it slowly.

SMILE FOR THE WEEK

The 5th grade class assignment was to bring back a story with a moral at the end of it. “My aunt was a pilot in Desert Storm who got shot down with only a flask of whiskey, a pistol and a survival knife. She drank the whiskey as she parachuted down, shot 15 of the 20 enemy troops and killed four with the knife, the last one with her bare hands”. “What kind of moral did you get from this story?” asked the teacher. “Stay away from Auntie when she’s drinking,” replied the student.
