The Big Dip

Under a sunny sky, the temperature hovering a bit above the freezing mark and a large hole cut in the ice at Lake Milo; approximately 50 enthusiastic polar bear dippers braved the water New Year's day to raise money for the Yarmouth Volunteer Fire Department, raising about $1,000.

Members of the department had previously cut a large hole in the ice and clad in submersible suits were in the water during the quick plunge. A crowd of over one hundred was on hand at noon New Year's Day to cheer them on. Congratulations to each one who took the plunge and a big thank you to Curt Stevens and Boston Pizza for sponsoring this second event.

Christmas Bowling Roll off

A much larger turnout this year, 49 bowlers, made the annual roll off much more enjoyable and showed chair Louie Amirault the interest was still there. This tournament was started by Stan Le Blanc, Dave Bishara and Jim Creaser just after the end of World War 2 and held on the four lanes at the Y.M.C.A.

This year's winners are: "A" section - Louie Amirault over Danny Hennigar and "B: section - Paul Comeau outlasting Greg Cormier.

High singles of 154 and 137 were rolled by Danny and Greg.
