The regular monthly meeting of the Monseigneur W.E. Young Assembly of the Knights of Columbus will be held in the K of C hall in Yarmouth on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.

An ostomy support group meeting, opened to ostomates, their families and the general public, will take place Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Yarmouth Hospital in the Ruth and Irving Pink Conference Room at 7:30 p.m. An ostomy video will be shown and a rap session will be held. Christmas dinner/get together plans will be finalized.

Rappie pie fundraiser

The Knights of Columbus, 2181 Yarmouth, will be holding a rappie pie fundraiser on Nov. 23 from 9 a.m to 1 p.m at their hall on 10 Collins St. Eat in, take out, or delivery available by phoning 742-3474. Price per order is $5.

Christmas Tree Lighting

Nov. 23 The annual Yarmouth Christmas tree lighting ceremony takes place on Friday, Nov. 23, starting at 6 pm. in front of the Yarmouth town hall.

Cider and hot chocolate afterwards. Opening remarks and caroling will begin at 6 p.m.,

with the tree lighting taking place at 6:15 p.m. More Christmas carols and refreshments will take place after the lighting. Open mic

Light exchange

Nov. 23

As part of the annual Yarmouth Christmas tree lighting ceremony, Friday, Nov. 23, at 6 p.m., at the Yarmouth town hall, there will be a Christmas light exchange taking place. Bring your old Christmas lights in and exchange them for energy efficient LED lights courtesy of the Town of Yarmouth and NS Power. Call Loren Cushing at 742-3171 for more information.

A fish chowder and corn chowder supper will be held at Temple Baptist Church 5 Bond Street on Nov. 24 from 4-6 p.m. Freewill offering at the door.

Benefit supper Nov. 24 Bay View Baptist Church in Port Maitland will be having a ham, scallop potatoes and bean supper along with a silent auction on Nov. 24 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Port Maitland fire hall. Cost $10. Proceeds for the Pan de Vida Orphanage in Mexico. .Christmas coffee party

The annual Prout Memorial Crib Tournament will be held at the Carleton Legion hall Saturday, Nov. 24, starting at 1 p.m.

Christmas tea

There will be a Christmas tea and bake sale at the Notre Dame Community Centre, 11 Queen St., from 2-5 p.m., Nov. 25. $5 adults, $3 children 12 and under. (Facility is wheelchair accessible.)

Art talk

Nov. 25

On Sunday, Nov. 25, Brian Porter will give a talk about his early and later painting in a presentation at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Western Branch, starting at 1 p.m. Two short videos on Porter's art, including one made by the National Film Board, will be part of the program. Also on Sunday, children of all ages are invited to "paint your cake and eat it, too" in a special art program inspired by Porter's painting, Cupcake. This program begins at 2 p.m. at the art gallery. For more information call coordinator Angela Collier at 749-2251.

Dumping Day

Nov. 26

On dumping day morning at the Cape Forchu lighthouse a gathering will be held to

show support for fishermen. A continental breakfast will be available starting at 5 a.m. for a donation to the Friends of the Yarmouth Light Society. There will be a blessing of the fleet at 5:45 a.m. which will be heard by both guests and fishermen. Bring flashlights.

French book fair

Nov.27-28 A "Festival du Livre" will take place at École Belleville on Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 2 - 8 and Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 8:30 - 12. French books for the whole family from board books to expert readers as well as a selection of French resource books for parents and educators. Organized by the PTA and the school library will receive free books based on the sales at the fair.

Seafood chowder

The IODE is having a seafood chowder takeout fundraiser on Wednesday, Nov 28, at the Knights Of Columbus Hall, Yarmouth from11:30 until 1:30 p.m. Price: $5 for chowder and a roll.

Wreath session

Adults can learn to make their own Christmas wreath Friday, Nov. 30, at Brazil Lake Wesleyan Church from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Cost $5; space limited. Register by calling 761-2566.

The prostate cancer support group meets the first Monday of each month (7 p.m.) at the Lions Club on Parade Street. Spouses welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Temple Baptist Church will be opening the Solid Rock Cafe drop-in center every Wednesday starting Nov. 7 from 1-4 p.m. Everyone welcome so drop in for a cup of tea or coffee and meet with friends.
