Mike Parker to speak

May 3 Clements Historical Society hosts author Michael Parker who will speak at the Clementsport Community Hall, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. Parker was a resident of Bear River, and the slide show and discussion will be about hunting and trapping in the area in the early years. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Silent auction

May 3 Silent Auction & Dessert Night at the West Kings District High School. Runs from 7:00 to 9:00. Join us for excellent desserts, music and auction items.

Yard and Bake Sale

May 5 Yard & Bake Sale from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at St. George and St. Andrew United Church, Annapolis Royal. Rain or shine.

Mother's Day Brunch

May 5 Saturday, May 5, a Mother's Day Brunch will be held at Hillsburn 4-H Hall starting at 9 a.m. Cost is $5. Menu: breakfast surprise, ham, hash browns, toast, juice, tea, or coffee.

Plant Sale

May 5 The annual Perennial Plant sale will be held from 8.30 a.m. to noon.at the United Church, Bridgetown. Plants,garden books, and magazines available.

Relay for Life Yardsale

May 5 The NSCC Nightcrawlers Relay for Life Team is having a yard sale at the Annapolis Valley Campus gymnasium, 295 Commercial Street, Middleton, Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hot dog barbecue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Flea market

May 5 Flea Market at the Middleton Train Station Museum from 8am to 2pm.

Spring Tea and Sale

May 5 The Parish in Deep Brook will hold a Spring Tea and Sale May 5 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Bake, book, craft, white elephant tables. Proceeds for Anglican Church Women, Parish of Clements.

Variety show

May 5 Variety Show at the Clarence Community Hall at 7 p.m. Featuring “Valley Grass” and Doug & Pat LeBlanc. Adnission is $5. 50/50 draw. Proceeds for painting the Hall.

Vocal recital

May 5 Mezzo soprano Amy McKenna of Lawrencetown will give a vocal recital at St. John’s United Church, Middleton. In collaboration with pianist Maureen MacLean, Amy will present works by Purcell, Bach, Schumann, Faure, Copland and Rodgers & Hammerstein. Rectial begins at 7 p.m. with a reception to follow. Free will offering with proceeds being donated towards Rely for Life and Family and Children Services of Annapolis County.

Chinese auction

May 5 A 2 p.m. Chinese auction will be held Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Macdonald Museum. Call 825-6116 for details.

Yard Sale

May 5 The annual St. John’s United Church Yard Sale will be held May 5 from 8 to 11 a.m. in Middleton.

Buffet Breakfast

May 6 Port George Men’s Club Buffet Breakfast will be held Sunday, May 6 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Recreation Centre, Port George. Pancakes, homemade baked beans, scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, toast, muffins, and fruit slad. Beverages. Everyone welcome.

Gospel Night

May 6 Gospel Night at the Bear River East Baptist Church, 2710 Clementsvale Road, will be held May 6 at 7 p.m. Featuring the Gospel Three plus One, The Ladies Worship Team, Ethel and Janice. Refreshments to follow. All proceeds go to the building fund. All Welcome.

CMHA Dinner

May 6 The Canadian Mental Health Association, Annapolis County Branch, launches Mental Health Week by introducing an original play ‘The Right Wrong Number, and a spaghetti dinner at the Bridgetown Lion’s Hall Saturday, May 6 at 6 p.m. Tickets available from Chapel Creek Gallery, Middleton, Mental Health Centre at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, and from CMHA Annapolis board members. Price is $7. Must be purchased in advance.

Golf shareholders meeting

May 6 Eden Golf & Counry Club’s annual spring shareholder’s meeting starts at 2:00 p.m. in the Clubhouse.

Spring celebration

May 6 “Of Birds and Bees” - a Spring Celebration featuring A Royal Consort under the direction of Carolyn Bosley. Starts at 2 p.m. in St. Luke’s Church, Annapolis Royal. Tickets are $7.00 and may be purchased from choir members or at the door.

Salvation Army auction

May 6 The Salvation Army Bridgetown Community Church, 16 Rink Street, will be having an auction on Saturday, May 5 at 7 p.m. Some items include ping pong table, piano, household items and games. Money raised will be used to fix the church roof.

Spring concert

May 6 A Spring Concert to be held at the Lawrencetown United Baptist Church from 3 to 4 p.m. Will included secular and sacred music to stir your heart. More info to follow. All welcome. No scent policy.

Seniors' party

May 7 Seniors' Party at the Bridgetown Baptist Church, Monday, May 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. All seniors in Bridgetown and the surrounding area are welcome to attend an afternoon of music, chatter and refreshments. See you there, and it's free!

Kingston Lions Luncheon

May 8 The next Kingston Lions Community Luncheon will be held May 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kingston Lions Hall. Menu: roast beef dinner with dessert. Cost: $8. Delivery $0.50 extra. Proceeds for Lions charitable work.

Neighbourhood Watch

May 8 The Annapolis South East Neighbourhood Watch will meet on Tuesday, May 8 at Three Rivers Community Hall, Messenger Road, Torbrook. Meeting time is 7 p.m. The group covers the areas of Torbrook, Meadowvale, South Farmington, Nictaux, Ward/Old Mill Road.

Hike for Hunger

May 10 The Bridgetown and Area Food Bank's annual Hike for Hunger will be held Thursday, May 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. Please be generous with your donations of non-perishable food and/or money. The 4-H Club members will be canvassing and the Lions Club will provide transportation.

May 10 Champlain Garden Club meets Thursday, May 10, 7:30 p.m. at St. George St. Andrew United Church Annapolis Royal (rear entrance). Marida Godwin from the Clean Annapolis River Project will make a presentation on Invasive Species. All welcome. Info 532-0901.

Authors Series

May 10 The Annapolis Valley Regional Library's Nova Scotia Authors Series presents author Pamela Porter, GG winner for 'The Crazy Man,' at the Rosa M. Harvey and Middleton Area Library, from 3 - 4 p.m. May 10. This free event is recommended for ages 8 and up. Porter will read from her book and talk about the writing process. Spring Bingo

Best of Broadway...The Sequel

Birds Musical

May 12 The Gathering of the Birds Musical featuring the Kings Chorale Children's Chorus and the Studio-to-Stage Dance Academy, will be performed at Kings Theatre, Annapolis Royal, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10, $5 for students. Relay for Life Yard Sale

May 12 A large multi-family yard sale will be held Saturday, May 12 at 13838 Highway 1, Wilmot (Evans’ Farm). All proceeds for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Rain Date May 19.

Turkey Supper

Fire Commission AGM

May 15 The annual meeting of the Kingston District Fire Commission will be held on Tuesday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kingston Fire Hall. Presentation of financial statements for April 1/06 – March 31/07. Presentation of budget for April l/07 – March 31/08. Election of commissioners. All interested persons are invited to attend.

Resumes for Women

May 15 Resumes for Women Workshop will take place on May 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Women’s Place, 38 Queen Street, Bridgetown. The workshop is put on by the Job Search Centre and will help stay-at-home moms to adapt their resumes to reflect their skills developed while raising children and homemaking.
