Letter: What to do with Cape Sable Island School?

Been “thinking” about the Centerville Elementary School on Cape Sable Island that is about to close. Challenged, months ago (I believe by the editor of this paper), to think of positive ways to re-use our schools.

The school (CSIES) has a fully equipped kitchen, gymnasium, classrooms and access to technology, a proper functioning septic system and bathroom facilities. There is a great playground (water usage is not far away for canoeing, etc), great neighbours and is off the road.

What a fantastic place for Camp Jordan to re-locate. Best of all, no (or little) mosquitos! Bunks and showers would have to be installed – then good to go!

Hopefully, I’ve got you “thinking” too.
