Hello again, I’m glad to have some more retro news for you to look at this week. It’s been busy around here and I hope you’ll all excuse the absence!
This week’s Peek Into the Past features some old advertisements as well as some news from a baseball tournament. What absolutely amazed me about this addition of the Advance is that most of the paper was devoted to a play by play of every game in the tournament.
I chose one of the games that Liverpool won and not one of the losing stories.
The other two clippings I chose are advertisements. With hunting season getting under way I thought the hunting ad for Seaman’s was suiting. I also find it interesting that they are encouraging the hunters to wear red. Can anyone remember when it was red and not orange?
The other ad I chose because I find ads pertaining to women in the household still come as a shock to me. I see vacuums and things marketed toward women all the time but it’s the blatant style of advertising that always surprises me with the old school housewife ads. In my house, my husband makes the bread. Mine rarely turns out right. I definitely wouldn’t have been this “blushing bride!”
