Burning brush and campfires are only allowed after 7 p.m. in Shelburne and Yarmouth counties today.
The Aug. 7 BurnSafe map, updated at 2 p.m., restricts fires in the province to between 2 p.m. and 8 a.m. in most parts of western Nova Scotia.
Camp and brush fires are not allowed after 8 a.m. during wildfire season. Check municipal bylaws for additional restrictions.
Today's forest fire conditions for western Nova Scotia counties are low, except for parts of Shelburne County and small areas of Yarmouth and Queens counties where there the fire index is moderate.
The Department of Natural Resources' fire index map is updated each afternoon and shows "the potential level of wildfire intensity should one break out."
